A rare pair of metal chairs, c1940s. Designed by Joseph Mathieu for Multipl’s for the city of Metz in France. Predating the more commonly known Tolix chair, this pair appears to have been painted red originally, then painted brown at some later point resulting in a fabulous and striking patina.
